Kisumu Boys KCSE Candidates Arrested for Allegedly Smoking Bhang

Police on Monday evening arrested four Kisumu day Secondary School KCSE candidates for allegedly smoking bhang.

The cops asserted that the candidates forcefully entered a room using a master key and gathered in a corner to indulge in smoking.

The quartet, consisting of three 18-year-olds and one 17-year-old, was temporarily detained at Kisumu Central Police Station where they recorded statements before being released.

The Kisumu Central sub-county police commander, Peter Mulai, confirmed the incident, mentioning that the students were released on cash bail following the intervention of parents and teachers.

Mulai explained that both parents and teachers agreed to let the students complete the remaining exams before investigations into the case commenced.

The suspects are scheduled to appear in court after the conclusion of exams on November 24, facing charges related to illegal drug possession and forceful entry into a locked room.

These four individuals are now part of a group of 46 students who are awaiting charges after the conclusion of the examination period.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu vowed to ensure that students and teachers accused of exam malpractices face charges.
